Winchester Cathedral
Winchester Cathedral
History, religious studies, art, architecture, maths, tourism… Winchester Cathedral brings a world of academic subjects to life with our bespoke educational tours and workshops.
Winchester Cathedral welcomes over 25,000 young people on educational visits each year. We run activities for children at all stages of the curriculum, led by our Director of Children’s Education (a former school teacher) and her team.
In 2008 we received the Sandford Award for Heritage Education in recognition of the quality of our service for schools.
School visits to Winchester Cathedral
From making clay gargoyles to learning about pilgrimage, we can offer workshops to suit all the Key Stages. We have a dedicated classroom; however, we feel that the Cathedral itself is the most inspirational learning space anyone could wish for, and visits are often a combination of tours and class-based activities.
We never take a one-size-fits-all approach to school visits – each group has its own learning targets and needs. Please email Cheryl Bryan, our Director of Children’s Education, to discuss what you would like from your school visit.
