British Student Dies on Croatia School Trip

An 18 year old male has tragically died whilst reportedly on a school trip to Croatia. He was hit by a car on Sunday 25th June just after midnight whilst crossing the A7 motorway.

The teenager was part of a group travelling on a school bus that had stopped at a service station. The driver of the car who hit the boy reportedly had no opportunity to avoid him as he ran across the motorway. Local police are investigating why the teenager was crossing the road when there was a bridge nearby.

It is being reported by local media, however, that the teenager along with others from the group had wanted to reach a McDonald’s on the other side of the motorway, but had not wanted to run further down to use a pedestrian crossing point.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) have stated that “Foreign Office staff are assisting the family of a British man following his death in Croatia, and are in contact with the Croatian hospital services”.
