Join the NCCL on Their Fun, Free and Interactive Education Open Day

On Wednesday 24th August 2016, the National Centre for Citizenship and the Law (NCCL) are hosting an Education Open Day for those in charge of planning group educational visits. It is an opportunity for teachers, educators and youth workers to learn how NCCL’s inspiring public legal education sessions link to the National Curriculum and support both social and academic skills.

The morning will involve visiting the Civil Justice Centre and Crown Court with a legal education specialist, with an opportunity to sit in the judge’s chair fully dressed in the traditional wig and gown. After this, an afternoon session with the People’s History Museum will allow visitors to meet the Learning Team to discuss programmes and resources at the museum whilst enjoying free drinks and biscuits. You will also be given free rein on a self-guided visit around the museum.

Children with parents/guardians are welcome, although must be aged 8 and over to attend the morning courtroom activity. The afternoon session at the People’s History Museum sees a family friendly workshop of designing your own screen print banner, although this must be booked separately to the event (see here).

There is limited availability for the morning courtroom trial workshop, so booking in advance is required by contacting Kath Downs: kath.downs@nccl.org.uk or 07912000493.
