Literary Map of London

More than 250 novels were mined in order to make the Literary London Map, taken from the Literary London Art Collection.

It was created by graphic artist Dex in collaboration with interior designer Anna Burles.

Each character has been plotted in the corners of the city they most liked to roam or chose to call home (sometimes at Her Majesty’s Pleasure). The map brings to life the army of fictional characters who were born here. From the dreamers and dandies to the eerily eccentric and downright dangerous. Not just the living, but also the walking dead.

But the map also acts as a fantastic guide for staff seeking to provide innovative, unusual and intriguing trips for any age of student.

From Sherlock Holmes to Bridget Jones, Jeeves and Wooster to George Smiley, Mr Benn to Edwin Drood, Dick Whiittington to Eliza Doolittle and 007 to Cruella de Vil, hundreds of characters by a vast range of authors feature in the map, which can provide many a talking point and act as inspiration for countless literary experiences.

You can order prints of the map here and here.
