A 16 year old schoolboy was subjected to racist abuse while on a school trip to Edinburgh last month.
Police have released CCTV of a man they want to speak to, in connection with the incident, which took place in Montgomery Street, Leith, on 25h April at approximately 11.am.
Initially, the abuse was targeted at a group of teenagers who were on a school trip to the city. One 16 year old boy was singled out and assaulted, resulting in what were described as 'painful' injuries.
Police are looking for a man in his late 20s, wearing a white fur-lined denim jacket and a black Armani T-shirt with a white 'EA' logo on the front.
Detective Constable Neill Watt of Gayfield CID said: "This was a violent attack on a teenage boy, who came to our city on a school trip and was left with painful facial injuries.
"We're eager to speak to this man in connection with our ongoing inquiries and would urge anyone who may recognise him, or has information relevant to this investigation, to contact us."
