Schoolboy Dies on End of Term Trip at Adventure Assault Course in Surrey

A 14 year old boy collapsed and died at the Camelot Events adventure site in Beare Green, Surrey just before 1pm, on Thursday, July 18th.

The boy was part of a group of teenagers, taking part in the assault course to celebrate the end of the school year.

The boy is understood to have suffered a cardiac arrest after attempting the muddy course.

A woman, working near the assault course, said: "A few of the kids came over for hot chocolates and things, and I overheard that it was a boy who inhaled lots of mud. He's done something wrong while on the course and inhaled lots of mud”.

An air ambulance helicopter was called to the scene, along with road ambulances but he was certified dead at the scene.

A Surrey Police statement said: "His death is being treated as unexplained, however at this stage his death is not thought to involve any third party and a file will be passed to the coroner’s office in due course.

The boy’s next of kin has now been informed. We would ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this time."

Lisa Edwards, operations manager at Camelot Events, said "We would also like to clarify that, despite earlier reports, the child was not on an obstacle but was on dry land when they became unwell and collapsed

We have offered our deepest sympathies to the child's family and the school, and our thoughts continue to be with those affected at this incredibly sad time.

We will also be supporting our staff who worked tirelessly in their efforts to save the child."
