Wales 2016: The Year Of Adventure

The Welsh Government has invested in exciting attractions in the recent years putting Wales at the forefront of adventure tourism. Ken Skates, Welsh Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism has declared 2016 as “The Year of Adventure”.

Attractions such as Zip World and Bounce Below, World-Class Mountain Biking facilities, hiking trails, beautiful monuments and castles to explore, presented and maintained by CADW, all feature prominently across Wales making it an excellent spot for exciting school trips.

Mr Skates said of the Year of Adventure Launch: "This launch signals a huge ambition to promote Wales as the home of adventure in 2016. Children will be invited to take over and sleep in castles, museums and abbeys, surrounded by world-class adventure exhibitions, whilst treasure hunters will be able to take part in a Geocache challenge along the Wales Coastal Path.”

“For the year of adventure in 2016 we’re going to work with partners to make sure that anyone who wants to can experience adventure in our fantastic landscapes and environment. Whether you’re a wild swimmer, a novice mountain biker, an explorer of hidden places, someone who wants to walk the coastal path or who wants to try a different outdoor sport we’ll be working to make sure the experience is something you’ll always remember."

The focus on adventure in Wales for 2016 fits in perfectly with National School Trips Week 2016: a new initiative focused on getting children outdoors and engaging in new and exciting experiences.
