School Travel Awards 2017/18

School Travel Organiser magazine have officially launched their ‘My Best School Trip Award’ for 2017/18, in which teachers of Key Stages 1 to 4 have the opportunity to win £1,500 to spend on a future school trip.

In order to enter, teachers need to ask their pupils to write reviews of a school trip or educational visit that they have been on recently. The writing should explain what the pupils did, what they learnt and what they enjoyed. The teacher will then need to choose the best three entries from the class and send them in to School Travel Organiser, along with a short narrative of their own, which should explain the trip objectives and how they were achieved.

Entries will then be reviewed by a panel of learning outside the classroom (LOtC) experts. A shortlist of the five best entries will be drawn up, with the winner being revealed at a five star School Travel Awards ceremony on Thursday 9th November 2017 at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London.

Last year’s winner of the My Best School Trip Award was Kirk Ella St Andrew’s Community Primary School, who have put their prize money towards two four night trips to YHA Eskdale, where pupils will have the chance to visit a zoo, study conservation and hill hike. Enter today for the chance to create a fantastic opportunity such as this school have done!

You can request an entry pack for the My Best School Trip Award here; the deadline for requesting a pack is 23rd June. The final deadline for all complete entries is 7th July 2017.

You can also nominate someone for the ‘School Trip Champion Award’, aimed at rewarding an individual who strives to get pupils learning outside the classroom. The prize for the winner will be £1,000 for their school to use on a future school trip. Please note that this award is only for those who work in or for a school, and not open to staff at providers, e.g. tour operators etc. Submit your nominations here.

Don’t feel like you’ve done enough to be considered a learning outside the classroom winner? Learning outside the classroom is vital to the development, education and understanding of both the curriculum and the world around pupils of all ages and at all stages of learning.
