The UK’s biggest event for school travel and learning outside the classroom provided a celebration of the very best in the sector, and for the second year, the ceremony was hosted by BBC TV news anchor and Antiques Roadshow presenter Fiona Bruce.
About 300 teachers, education experts and school trip providers attended the event, held at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London.
Fiona Bruce, who hosted the ceremony, said: “I think it’s so right that we should celebrate what extraordinary teachers what incredible schools do, the extraordinary trips they take them on, the learning experiences they give them, and the places the children go and get so much from. I loved school trips and I’m so pleased to get to celebrate them at the awards ceremony. We’ve seen some truly inspiring trips and some truly remarkable teachers.”
17 accolades were handed out in total at the ceremony. Elaine Skates, chief executive of the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom presented British Museum with the Best Museum Visit award. Other winners included KidZania, London, which was named the Best UK Destination or Attraction, Bletchley Park, for the Best Venue for Maths Learning while Kingswood was crowned the Best Residential Experience.
Two of the awards recognised best practice within schools and each come with a £1,500 prize to spend on a school trip.
