At Key Stage 2 pupils will begin to adopt a more sophisticated approach to the core and foundation subjects.

In History, the requirement to study topics such as the Anglo-Saxon and Scots invasions and the Viking and Roman occupations creates many opportunities for school trips to some of the most important historical sites in the world, and a great variety of brilliant museums. There will always be a venue close by!

History trips can also be used in KS2 to develop pupils' 'use of geographical knowledge, understanding and skills to enhance their locational and place knowledge', one of the aims of the KS2 Geography curriculum. Such activities could also be linked to the national curriculum requirement to 'take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges both individually and within a team'.

But there are many other options for accessing imaginative and challenging activities from specialist providers. Some schools also like to organise short residential visits at for pupils at KS2 level to give classes a taster of new activities and team-working away from usual environments and families.

Come and explore the Wallace Collection at Hertford House with your school, where a team of skilled freelance Gallery educators will help you to get more from your visit.

A 210 hectare nature reserve with a diverse mosaic of habitats including marshes, ponds, pools, woods and grasslands. Find the Kingfisher Tearooms nestled in the middle of the reserve serving delicious homemade food. Lots of accessible paths and hides to view the brilliant wildlife. Take a session out with the education team to find out more!

Large indoor play area with 3 levels and loads of classic adventure play features from slides to balls via tunnels, and with a separate area for under 3s.

The play facility is within the Magnet Leisure Centre, so there are opportunities on site for team and track sports plus a swimming pool which also offers lessons.

Scout Activity Centres are the perfect location for your next outdoor adventure. Whether you’re a Scout or Guide Leader, primary or secondary school teacher, or a company director planning your next team building event, our 100 years’ experience make us the ideal choice.

By providing a team of experienced and qualified leaders, OXPED is able to offer a variety of DofE expeditions in lowland and wild country areas of the UK (and occasionally elsewhere). It fulfils the crucial role of providing expedition opportunities to those people who are unable to join their own DofE Centre's expedition for some reason.

Dobroyd Castle is a 19th century mansion set high up on the Todmorden moors enjoying some fantastic views of the surrounding area and accommodated up to 285 children. The castle has both architectural and historical significance in the area.

A quirky little museum, with 3 floor that are jam packed with items from popular British Culture from Victorian times to present day. Fascinating for the kids, and possibly nostalgic for the adults!

The museum is run by a friendly husband and wife team, who have dedicated their lives to building and maintaining this incredible collection.

Horse riding lessons at Sherwood Riding school are great activities for kids.

It's a Nottinghamshire riding school with a difference, BHSI Instructor Sam and her team make learning to ride a horse easy and fun.

The Ridge provides over 120 different climbs up to 9m and spread across four very different walls, so it provides a variety of different climbing experiences.

The youth club here is solely for kids who have had some training or climbed with parents and want to give it a go alone (under supervision) so the age is less relevant than experience and skill. Not for beginners.

Quad biking fun for all the family, quad parties, family sessions, quad ramble adventures and inflatable quad track hire. Bike sizes to suit from 6 years and up.

We have a selection of bike sizes from 50cc for the little ones with remote cut outs and lanyards, to 100cc for the bigger kids. We also offer 150cc and 300cc machines which are available in the family sessions.

As a charity our innovative activities and programmes deliver far more than simply training and qualifications – your pupils will get an experience that assists and supports their development leading to improved learning, communication, self-confidence, leadership and team work.

Oriel y Parc Visitor Centre and Gallery is located in St David's, Britain's smallest city, and is in the UK's only truly coastal National Park.

Our gallery, home to Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales in Pembrokeshire, displays works of art from the national collection, with exhibitions drawing inspiration from Pembrokeshire’s incredible landscapes.

Releasing Potential is a charity, based in Havant, which has been delivering outdoor education since 2001. We began by providing activities in schools to help marginalised young people develop social, emotional and practical skills.

Southwark Cathedral Education Centre aims to bring learning to life.  Using the Cathedral as an inspirational resource, we provide curriculum-linked trails and workshops for children and young people that are exciting, engaging and experiential.  We want to ensure that schools enjoy their time here and are eager to return.

Chichester Cathedral is a busy place with visitors, worshippers and pilgrims coming from all over the world. Join us here for unique learning opportunities where pupils, students and families can immerse themselves in nine centuries of Cathedral stories - explore, debate and share. Most of all it is your Cathedral - a place of inspiration and reflection for 900 years. 

Our aim is to enable young people to develop through taking part in outdoor activities in a fun and safe environment. This simple aim has led us to develop our Centre that rivals commercially run Centres in terms of both facilities and activity provision.

As we are a charity we are able to maintain excellent value for money.

Bring a group to spend a memorable day at one of our Centres, or we can come to you. We can also support DofE groups, BTec / GCSE and provide team building courses for young people or adults.

See a bus so old it was pulled along the street by horses. Get behind the driver's seat of our tube train simulator, experience journeys of a bygone era. Your only problem will be trying to fit it all in!

School Trips

We provide a wide range of adventurous and challenging onsite and offsite activities to suit all abilities – including the Cube, climbing, archery, abseiling, team building and more! Our campsite and indoor accommodation make Moor House the perfect location for any event.

We have a small team of highly qualified and experienced coaches, giving you quality sea kayak instruction on the stunning south Devon coast. We provide guided sea kayak trips and skills courses for all ages and abilities.

Radical Services provide fun, educational and stimulating care to young people, in small family style homes. We help them to reach their full potential, with a team of well trained staff, who care and believe that the young person’s voice should be central to the way they work.

A 15-year-old boy fell 60ft over the edge of a cliff whilst on a geography school trip, miraculously only suffering minor injuries.
