Chelmsford Cathedral
Chelmsford Cathedral
Experience RE out of the classroom
Chelmsford Cathedral is a beautiful house of prayer and a unique educational resource. The light, joyous and colourful atmosphere together with the varied, contemporary works-of-art, enable it to be explored in many ways.
What do we offer schools?
The children take part in activities and trails which focus on ‘Exploring the Christian Faith’ and ‘Cathedral as a place of Worship’. Each visit offers an opportunity to explore at first hand, the Religious Education syllabus, while in many cases, to meet other cross curricular links – history, materials, art, craft, music and story. Children are involved through, discussion, questioning, role-play, use of the senses, reflection and prayer, investigation, sketching and creative activities. Each visit is designed to offer support to teachers and we are always happy to meet any particular requirements or topics. Children with special needs are always welcome. The Learning Centre offers a venue specially designed for creative activities, lunch and recreation.
Pilgrimage
An interactive day as the children take on the role of a pilgrim, visit places of interest, record their journey, reflect on the lives of some special saints and join in an act of worship.
