Clent Grove and Castle Folly

Clent Grove and Castle Folly

Clent Castle is a mock ruin castellated folly in the grounds of Clent Grove (now the Sunfield Special School and Children's Home).

It was built in the late 18th century by Thomas Liell and has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building.

The folly is of handmade brick with stone dressings. Its twin round towers are linked by lower central section. The towers are three storeys in height, with corbel table and embattled parapets. The window openings have stone architraves. The towers have pointed-arched windows to front and sides, quatrefoil windows at first floor level and windows shaped like Maltese crosses above. The linking section has a pointed archway on the ground floor and a pointed first floor window.

It is situated within sight of Hagley Hall.
