The Collection Museum

The Collection Museum

Brings together an award winning archaeology museum and one of the region's premier art galleries, the Usher Gallery, in the heart of historic Lincoln. Play at The Collection is an exciting free activity centre for younger visitors which encourages learning through play!

Children can design their own Roman Shield or Medieval Pot, identify fascinating objects in our Lift the Flap activity and Touchy Feely Boxes or just relax in our large comfy window seat. The ideal place to enjoy reading one of our many story time books. There is also a cushioned play area for babies with soft toys and activity rattles.

Children can pick up a themed backpack and carry on the playtime in the museum and gallery. The museum has much to appeal to older children as well with computer interactives, mosaic making, trails and games. A visit to The Collection will inspire and delight your students.

School Trips

The award winning Investigate schools programme at The Collection museum presents lively hands-on, cross-curricular workshops based around our unique collection of artefacts.

Workshops can be booked for Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. We recommend you book well in advance to ensure you get your ideal visit date.

Key Stage One and Key Stage Two pupils can experience object handling through our Big Dig archaeology activity, take staff-led tours of the galleries and make artefact-based crafts to take home.

Talk to a member of the education team to get the most from your visit.

If you are a Key Stage Three & Four teacher wishing to book a visit, we can tailor-make your visit to suit your needs. Contact a member of the education team for details.
