Lincoln offers an experience rich in history of engineering and historic buildings including the city’s world famous cathedral. It is also home to one of only four surviving copies of the Magna Carta. There are also plenty of museums, art galleries and theatres around the city, alongside a Japanese Garden, an arboretum, Doddington Hall and RAF Cranwell Heritage museum.

Alford Manor House

A very rare example of a composite structure, featuring a wooden frame with reed and plaster (visible from within the house), encased in brick.

Ground floor and first floor rooms feature design interventions from Georgian through to Victorian times, whilst the attic floor is virtually untouched since 1611.

Tattershall Castle

A unique 15th Century red-brick castle rising dramatically above the Lincolnshire countryside

Discover 800 years of the castle’s history from palatial dwelling to cattle shed; romantic ruin to restoration. The brick castle was built by Ralph Cromwell, Lord Treasurer of England, between 1434-1447 as a display of his wealth, power and ambition in unstable times.

Whisby Animal Centre

LDSA - Hykeham Sailing Club

The LDSA – The Lincoln and District Sailing Association, a recognised Royal Yachting Association Training Establishment - is an association of Lincolnshire schools which exists to promote the sport to students in the county.

Natural World Centre

The Natural World Centre is a state of the art sustainably designed visitor centre within the beautiful 375 acre Whisby Nature Park, just to the south of Lincoln.

Donna Nook Nature Reserve

Lincoln Medieval Bishop's Palace

Standing almost in the shadow of Lincoln cathedral, with sweeping views over the ancient city and the countryside beyond, the medieval bishops’ palace was once among the most important buildings in the country. The administrative centre of the largest diocese in medieval England, stretching from the Humber to the Thames, its architecture reflected enormous power and wealth.

Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary

A sanctuary caring for over 30 donkeys, plus 2 zeedonks, horses, and shetland ponies. There are also ducks and chickens to meet. Free to visit. Carrots available to feed to the animals.

Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary is a lovely place to take the kids to meet a load of donkeys, each with their own unique personalities and stories.

Hill Holt Wood

Hill Holt Wood is a 14 hectare sustainably managed ancient woodland situated on the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire border. Lincoln Cathedral

We welcome thousands of children from schools across the world to the Cathedral every year. Many hundreds visit during our annual schools’ festivals: Church Schools Festival, Infant Schools Festival, Secondary Schools Festival and Special Schools Festival and we offer schools’ tours and trails throughout the academic year.

Tattershall College

Remains of a grammar school for church choristers, founded in the mid-15th century by Ralph, Lord Cromwell, the builder of nearby Tattershall Castle (National Trust).

Tattershall College was built in 1460, four years after the death of its patron, Lord Cromwell, and was completed by William of Wainfleet, Bishop of Winchester.

Lincolnshire Archives was established as a county service in 1948 with the bringing together of the records collected by the Lindsey, Kesteven and Holland County Councils, and the Lincoln Diocesan Record Office. The Archives service was known as the Lincolnshire Archives Committee.

British schoolgirl assaulted on school trip to Iceland

A viral video shows a black girl being assaulted by a white woman in a corridor.

Police in Iceland are investigating after a British schoolgirl was slapped and chased by a tour guide in a hotel corridor.

The schoolgirl, 13, who attended Harris Girls’ Academy, was assaulted whilst on a school trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The incident occurred at Hotel Örk, Hveragerdi on 13th October.
