Devonport Naval Heritage Centre

Devonport Naval Heritage Centre

Situated in the Upper Heritage Site of Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth Naval Base Museum Collection is based on support to the fleet (Royal Navy) at Plymouth since the time of Edward I. It includes Naval stores, uniforms, badges, personal kit, Royal Yacht china and ship models.

There are substantial and important archives relating to the history of Devonport Dockyard. Larger artefacts include boats, foundry items, diving equipment, historic ship figureheads and the decommissioned submarine HMS Courageous, and the Duty Visit Ship.

It is open by appointment to groups of visitors. Tours are conducted by RN Personnel and Civilian Volunteers. Tours are available for Divisional, Departmental or Team-Building  events and for public enjoyment. Our hospitality area includes a meeting/conference facility and a cafe serving light refreshment. These are available for group/business reservations.

Tours provide access to over 15 larger 18th and 19th century industrial buildings, to ships and the submarine.
