Kelmarsh Hall

Kelmarsh Hall

Kelmarsh Hall is a Grade I listed country house built in 1732. The Kelmarsh Estate is now in the care of a charitable trust, charged with maintaining it in perpetuity for the benefit of the nation. In 2004, Kelmarsh (Events) Limited was set up as a commercial arm of the business to support the Charitable Trust.

The Kelmarsh Trust main aims and undertakings are to:
•    Conserve and manage the built and natural environment
•    Promote education about the hall, the estate and its natural history
•    Provide public access

School Visits

We welcome groups to Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens, where there is much to discover during a day's visit. Our experienced guides will outline the history of the 18th  century house, which includes the Croome collection, and garden tours are available.

The historic walled kitchen garden provides the perfect outdoor classroom in which children can learn about where their food comes from and the benefits of healthy eating.

Activities include identifying vegetables, taste testing, bug hunts, seed sowing and craft activities. The programme is designed for pre-school and primary school children but is adapted according to the age range. With a range of hands-on activities on offer, children will get a lesson to remember.

During the summers of 2011 and 2012, almost 1,000 children visited the kitchen garden as part of a school visit. We were also the joint winner in Northamptonshire’s 2012 Heritage Awards in the category Working with Children and Young People.
