Welcome to Nottingham Castle - a magnificent 17th century ducal mansion built on the site of the original Medieval Castle - now the city's main museum and art gallery.

Discover over 15 centuries of Nottingham history brought to life in the museum through interactive display and stories. Learn about the sites turbulent past, it's legends and people of the city.

Tour the exhibits to find out more about Nottingham's part in the First World War, more about the magnificent castle building itself, and of course Nottingham's own Robin Hood!

We offer the best regional, national and international art in the regularly changing exhibition galleries. Plus the permanent exhibitions showcase costume and textiles, silverware, glass and jewellery all year round.

Cave tour times and prices

Take a tour to experience the caves for yourself, learning on the way the gruesome tales of Roger Mortimer, King David II of Scotland or you may be able to take a tour with Robin Hood himself...

With some of the caves dating back to medieval times, the tour is strenuous with lots of steep steps. However, for those who wish to descend through hundreds of years the tour is a must.
