Nottingham

Nottingham is famed for its links to the (semi-?) fictional Robin Hood. The city prospered from its link to the coal-mining and lace industries. There’s also a wealth of under-ground caves below the city’s streets and under the castle. The galleries of justice can offer a great insight into the British legal system.

Sport dominates as it is home to the National Ice Centre (where Torvill and Dean rehearsed for their Olympic gold medal performances), the National Water Sports Centre and Trent Bridge, a Test cricket ground, as well as two Football League clubs. Culture features highly too, with museums on topics such as art, natural history, industry, contemporary Nottingham and brewing.
