Nottingham Industrial Museum

A museum at Wollaton Hall covering the industrial history of Nottingham from lacemaking to motorcycle manufacture. Steam day on the last Sunday of every month, plus a calendar of changing events during the year.

Nottingham Industrial Museum allows you to explore the different aspects of the Industrial Revolution in Nottingham, and the names of companies and people that made the city famous around the world.

The Transport Gallery contains two 17th century carriages, a railway display, plus a collection of locally made motorcycles.

There is also a Brough Superior car, one of only 4 that were made!
In the Textile Gallery you will learn about their importance in Nottingham, and get to see the ancient machines that were used to make mass produced cotton lace, and woollen goods too.

Kids will enjoy the Telecommunications Gallery, which has a model spark transmitter used to send Morse code that they can use to tap out their name.

The Steam Gallery contains an impressive Basford Beam Engine, a large variety of pumps and engines, plus the work of 2 long established Nottingham companies. There is also a telephone exchange, where you can call each other on phones and watch the components make the connection!

Outside, you can see one of the few remaining Ginn Wheels, plus a coal truck, tractors, and a restored living van.
