Radio City

Radio City

The Radio City Viewing Gallery is now open.

Spring 2011 saw the opening of St John’s Beacon to the general public, opening daily including both weekends and bank holidays (except Christmas and Boxing Day). Standing proudly some 400 feet above the heart of the city centre, the beacon offers stunning panoramic views of Merseyside, Wirral, North Wales (including Snowdonia occasionally) and as far away as the Lake District and Blackpool Tower on clearer days. Not bad for an observation deck that was originally designed to be a chimney.

Your visit to the beacon takes you to two levels, firstly to Level 1, our main Gallery level which also houses the studios of Radio City 96.7, City Talk 105.9 and Magic 1548. Though the studios are frequently used throughout the day by our hard working staff, we will endeavour to allow access to a vacant studio whenever possible.

After taking in the panoramic views of this floor, you are invited to visit our infamous Zoo Room (we’ll explain why it is called this when you visit us) where you can purchase drinks at very reasonable prices. We offer a café service on weekends and bank holidays, with high quality vending machines during the week. Please note, as with the studios there may be occasions when the Zoo area is out of bounds as it is often booked for private functions*.

The beacon is open to visitors from 10:30am until 5:30pm (last entry 5pm) 7 days a week. There is no need to book, though you can purchase tickets in advance by clicking here

Prices are £5.00 for adults, £4.00 for those fortunate enough to be student or retired and £3.00 for children, with under 5’s free of charge. Group discounts for 12 or more persons are also available. All visitors receive a free panoramic tour guide, and we have binoculars available too.
