Severn Valley Railway

Severn Valley Railway

A full-size railway service running regular steam-hauled passenger trains between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, largely along the scenic River Severn. We operate along 16 miles of track from Kidderminster via Bewdley to Bridgnorth.

We are a historic rural railway line run with plenty for train enthusiasts to see and do. You may join the line at several stations, including Hampton Loade, Highley and Arley.

You may join the line from several stations, not just the one marked here as the address! Highlights include crossing the 200ft Victoria Bridge, which parents may remember from 'The 39 Steps' film.

The area being isolated in terms of roads, your family will be treated to splendid views which are only visible from the Railway, with naturally wild landscapes and twee country stations, each one offering local villages and riverside walks for serene exploration.

Leave the train at Highley for a visit to The Engine House, the exciting Visitor Centre. In this charming building your chaffer children can ogle their reserve collection of steam locomotives, plus railway themed exhibitions, a quaint gift shop and Buffer's Family Cafe and Restaurant, with glorious balcony views across the Severn Valley. Visiting the Engine House is included in the price of your ticket.

School Trips on the Severn Valley Railway

We also run themed days out for school groups. Special discounts apply for groups of 15 or more. Some of our carriages have been specially adapted to be able to cope with people of a range of disabilities to ensure inclusion on your trip.

Who knows, you may even catch sight of the new baby elephant at the West Midlands Safari Park as you roll past on the line right next to their enclosure!
