Umberslade Farm Park specifically caters for educational visits. We aim to provide schools with a truly interactive farm park experience in safe and hygeinic surroundings. Our genuine educational and fun-filled experience links well with cross-curricular subjects at all levels within the National Curriculum.
Our fully trained guides ensure every visitor enjoys the maximum benefits during their tour of the children's farm park whilst undertaking the many activities on offer.
We provide Activity & Resource packs free of charge for both pre and post- visit classroom activities, making a farm visit much more than just a day out. Separate packs are available for Foundation Key Stage and Key Stage One & Two.
Hands-On Opportunities
Visitors are offered a year-round programme of activities which reflect the seasonal nature of farming; all designed to instil a greater understanding, whatever the age. Some of our favourite activities include:
- Bottle feeding lambs
- Goat milking
- Handling baby chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs
- Meeting the hens & egg collecting
- Bottle feeding calves
- Exploring the pig sties & seeing the piglets
As well as the great animal activities, children can let off steam on the adventure play areas and have the opportunity to eat packed lunches in our undercover seating areas.
Providing all the Essentials
Health and safety is paramount at Umberslade Farm Park. To help teachers and group leaders prepare for a visit, we provide full Risk Assessments and necessary guidance notes. We emphasise to every group the importance of thorough hand-washing when handling animals and provide several hand washings basins, all with warm water.
Every group is provided with their own undercover seating area and the majority of activities are carried out in our traditional farm buildings and consequently available in any weather.
School and group visits are welcome throughout the year and typically run from 10am to 2pm.
