Learning Outside the Classroom Schools Roadshows

Are you new to the world of learning outside the classroom and feeling a little out of your depth, or a veteran looking for fresh ideas? This academic year, the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC) are running three roadshow events across the country inviting schools, teachers and educators to take part in a day of practical workshops and case studies.

For the 2017-18 academic year, the LOtC Schools Roadshows will be taking place at:

  • National Justice Museum, Nottingham – Tuesday 7th November 2017.
  • Briscoe Primary School and Nursery, Basildon, Essex – Monday 18th December 2017.
  • Neston High Schools, Neston, Chesire – Saturday 10th February 2018.

A full day will cost attendees £95 if they’re a CLOtC member and £120 otherwise. A half day will cost £60 for CLOtC members and £90 otherwise. The roadshows aim to inspire attendees and give them the confidence following the roadshow to plan, develop and implement learning outside the classroom experiences. The events will provide case studies from LOtC Mark schools in the area to illustrate what activities they can do and how they are linked to the curriculum. Additionally, information will be shared on organising and delivering learning outside the classroom activities from national LOtC experts across the sector.

Each roadshow has different workshops, with LOtC experts such as Learning Away, the National Justice Museum and Learning Through Landscapes. For further information on the programme for each roadshow event and how to book, see here.

We understand how chaotic the school environment can be and often arranging learning outside the classroom activities/trips can be put towards the bottom of the ‘to do’ list, but they shouldn’t be. Learning outside the classroom provides fun, educational and rewarding experiences for both students and staff and exposes students to new challenges and experiences, allowing them to develop new skills such as character-building and problem solving.
