Winter Mudlarks!

It's often tempting to stay in the classroom during the dark, dank days of winter, but there is a world of learning awaiting you outside the classroom - and its one that pupils will love and learn from.

Forest schools are a great way to engage students of all ages, but particularly in EYFS and Key Stage 1. Getting green fingers, mucky hands and dirty faces has enthralled children for hundreds of years and topics which can be covered include food, biology of plantlife, the business of supermarkets, the environment and global warming, the science of sunlight, the importance of green spaces and the difference between growing things for beauty and for food.

Of course, just having fun in the outdoors can often be reason enough!

So why not get your wellies on and head outside to your own green space, or if your school is not blessed with one, to a local park, garden centre or provider such as Bring Yer Wellies in Hoghton, Lancashire. Try searching for 'wellies', 'forest', 'garden', 'mud' or 'dig' in the venue search bar to find suitable venues near you.
