As part of their 100th anniversary celebrations, Paignton Zoo are offering free school trips throughout 2023 to primary and secondary schools. This momentous offer honours the zoo’s original goal when it was established in 1923 - to provide a place of learning where people can discover the wonders of nature.

Teachers Found Not Guilty Over Death of Girl on French School Trip

Three teachers from the UK have been found not guilty of the equivalent of manslaughter by gross negligence after the death of a 12-year-old pupil on a French school trip.
 
Jessica Lawson, who was a pupil at Wolfreton School in Willerby, was on a school trip when she died due to a pontoon capsizing in a lake near Limoges in southern France in July 2015.

Pupil Dies After Illness is Dismissed as ‘Homesickness’ on School Trip

Timothy Fehring, a healthy boy of 15, died while on a school trip to Europe after teachers and doctors dismissed his illness as mostly homesickness, despite severe symptoms such as frequent vomiting. He died six days into the trip on 28th June 2019.

School Children Rescued by Firefighters After Bus Catches Fire on School Trip

A class of school children on a school trip had to be evacuated from their bus after it caught fire.

The bus caught fire on the A169 in the middle of the North Yorkshire Moors at approximately 5pm on 12th July. The incident occurred nearby to a RAF Flyingdales - a ballistic missile radar base - who rescued the 31 children and teachers aboard the bus, and extinguished the fire.

Pupil Left Alone in Dover After Passport Misunderstanding

An 11-year-old pupil from Bedford was left devastated after a long-awaited school trip to Paris goes wrong. Pupil Mohammed Aashir Zabid was left alone at Dover police station by his school Goldington Green Academy after it was discovered he didn’t have a passport.

Police in Iceland are investigating after a British schoolgirl was slapped and chased by a tour guide in a hotel corridor.

The schoolgirl, 13, who attended Harris Girls’ Academy, was assaulted whilst on a school trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The incident occurred at Hotel Örk, Hveragerdi on 13th October.
