A party of 13 from Edge Hill University were on a trip to the Houses of Parliament when the terror attack unfolded yesterday. Two students were reported amongst the injured, after a car was driven by a terrorist at high speed over Westminster Bridge, before the assailant launched a fatal attack on a police office.
One student is understood to have suffered a cracked rib as well as hand and arm injuries, but is recovering in hospital and is reported to be in “good spirits”. Another required treatment for a head wound. Two others suffered minor injuries. It is hoped that the one remaining student still in hospital will be discharged later today.
Speaking on BBC North West Tonight, Dr John Cater, Vice Chancellor of the university, said the students had been in the House of Commons watching Prime Minister’s Questions two hours before the attack. All are reported to be distressed by the incident. A spokesman for Edge Hill said: “All students and lecturer in Westminster have been accounted for and are being supported by the University.”
