The LOtC Site Provider Award
The LOtC Site Provider Award is intended to recognise those organisations which actively welcome schools onto their sites and ensure that those sites and any other services provided meet the needs of schools. The LOtC Mark is the first national accreditation for schools which recognises and supports the development of Learning Outside the Classroom across all subject areas. Comprising of three levels, the LOtC Mark is intended not only to recognise existing exemplary provision, but also to assist and support schools in developing their LOtC offer. Nantyr Outdoor Education Centre was originally the village school for the local community and the surrounding area. From the 1950s the centre was owned by St. George’s Secondary Modern School on the Wirral, who used Nantyr as a base for residential work and field studies.
Carlingwark Outdoor Education Centre was opened in 2009 to deliver adventure activities to Dumfries & Galloway School pupils. The centre is available for hire to recognised groups, clubs and other organisations. The Centre is primarily used Monday to Friday for educational delivery and is available for hire at weekends throughout the year as well as recognised school holidays.
