Physical Education

Physical Education teachers spend their working lives taking groups to play matches, participate in athletic competitions, and on outdoor walking and climbing activities. There would appear to be little time for any extra visits, and yet P.E. staff find time to take groups to a variety of venues.

Visits by P.E. and Games teachers are, of course, mainly to sporting venues – either as participants or spectators. Some venues are iconic, such as Wembley, Cardiff Arms Park, Lord's, Twickenham or Old Trafford, but the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum has its adherents, as do the British Golf Museum at St Andrews, the National Football Museum in Manchester and the Olympic Park, London.

But for something a bit different some schools visit the National Clay Shooting Centre at Woking, the National Motorcycle Museum just off junction 6 of the M42, the National Badminton Museum in Milton Keynes, or the Archery Museum at the University of Manchester, or the various sailing centres around our coast.

Venues for this Curriculum

We are an RYA Teaching Centre and the first Club to achieve Volvo Champion Club status. As well as our Racing and Training programmes we can offer social camping and caravan weekends. Included in our extensive Club House facility is a staffed catering arrangement operating on race days and other special events.

Caythorpe Court is a fantastic place with everything you could possibly need to make your PGL holiday perfect. With 65 acres of grounds surrounding a huge mansion house there’s loads of great facilities and even more brilliant PGL activities!

We’ve also improved it further with new lodge accommodation and a purpose built dining room. 

The centre is set in 45 acres of grounds with its own private beach and cliff top views. One of the first things you’ll notice is the huge high ropes course with its zip wire and the stunning views of Weymouth, Portland and Chesil Beach. 

Adventure Expeditions has established itself as a leading provider of quality outdoor education programmes with benefits that have lasting impact, both in the classroom and into the workplace.

We offer relaxing breaks or fun filled adventure weekends for families, educational outdoor activities for schools and groups and outdoor pursuits training courses for adults. Due to the location and size of our centre we are able to offer the majority of the activities on site. 

Country Care Children's Home is an Ofsted registered girls' residential therapeutic care home and “outstanding” independent school; where outcomes for girls really matter. We provide care, therapy, accommodation and education for up to eight girls aged between 10 and 17.

BXM are a UK based outdoor challenge company running exciting expeditions to wilderness environments. Our experienced mountain leaders from teaching, motivational coaching and military backgrounds will take you beyond possibility and help you achieve the extraordinary.

Sea kayaking offers an experience unlike any other mode of travel. More spectacular scenery than you will see on any canoe trip. Amazing views that you can’t get from the top of even the highest mountains. Lazy days on flat water for the less adventurous but massive seas, big surf and fast tidal races for the adrenaline junkie. 

High Tracks Adventure Learning delivers outdoor expedition training for groups based around Surrey (UK). Our focus is on delivering high quality schools' Duke of Edinburgh's Awards expeditions at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.

To deliver safe, total quality training and recreational experiences inside and out in a caring and professional manner, tailored to meet the needs of a wide variety of client groups, anywhere.

Coastal adventure training provides adventurous activities and training for individuals and groups aged 9+, We specialise in Sea Kayaking, Rock Climbing and Coasteering. We are AALA registered and all our staff have excellent knowledge, experience and hold NGB qualifications.    

Located on a very attractive 50 acre lake the club has a modern clubhouse, spacious car park and an enclosed boat compound.

For over 20 years Branas Isaf have been delivering an outstanding integrated model of education, therapy and therapeutic care to young people who present with a specific range of complex interpersonal behavioural issues.

We offer the perfect location for world-class adventure activities. Based in North Cornwall we have the most awe-inspiring surroundings. You can enjoy rock climbing where the dramatic sea cliffs of Cornwall meet the Atlantic Ocean. You can coasteer and eco-coasteer in a fabulous wildlife-rich environment.

Kilbowie is managed by North Lanarkshire Council, providing 5-day courses mainly for Primary 7 pupils, though not exclusively as weekends and some weeks are available for other groups.

From our Peak District base, we operate throughout the UK and pride ourselves on delivering you the best possible combination of leadership, accommodation, equipment and venues.

Outdoor-Ambition Limited is a privately owned Outdoor Company managed and directed by Lloyd Murray. The Company specialises in providing high quality outdoor activites that will interest, excite, challenge, motivate and stimulate all participants.
