What are they and what do they involve?

Outdoor activity venues can include a great many things, from relaxation to exhilarating sport! The outdoors includes anything not in a building; you can find activities such as nature trails, adventure playgrounds and parks/gardens outside!

What are the benefits?

Spending time outside is always beneficial, even if it’s just for the fresh air and a change in scenery! Participating in outdoor sport is fantastic for both physical and mental health, and learning about the environment and how to care for it is an important thing for everyone to learn about, regardless of age.

What students is it suitable for?

The outdoors is a great place for all students, so outdoor activity venues will entertain everyone; however, you should make sure that the location is suitable for the group! For example, older teenage students wont have much fun on an adventure playground designed for much smaller children!

Costs?

Outdoor venues will vary greatly in price, as some will be in completely free public areas while some need to charge entry fees; make sure to research this before you set off as you don’t want to surprised!

Safety Implications?

Younger children should always be carefully supervised when outdoors, especially in public areas!

Prince's Trust centres currently offer the Fairbridge programme, which is an individually tailored personal development programme combining one-to-one support and group activities.

Originally Fairbridge Tyne and Wear, we've been working with young people across the region for over 20 years.

The Peak Centre at Champion House is a residential and activity centre for groups ranging in size from 15 to 46 though we can accommodate smaller or larger groups by arrangement. We can provide catering or you can cater for yourselves.

Spinnaker Sailing Club is the perfect venue for members and training members to develop their sailing skills in a safe, friendly environment.  As an RYA recognised training centre, Spinnaker Sailing Club has highly qualified instructors and coaches waiting to help you achieve your sailing ambitions, whatever your age or ability.

We offer three kinds of courses:

  • Fun adventures for adults and families,
  • “Hard skills” courses to improve your technical climbing, paddling or first aid skills
  • “Soft skills” courses: using outdoor pursuits to improve social skills, like confidence, teamwork and self reliance.

 

WinG was initially established in 1984 by a group of volunteers in partnership with Gateshead Council’s Children and Young People’s service to promote the education and personal development of disadvantaged individuals and groups in Gateshead.

Whoosh Explore Canoe Club Sessions 

Learn to paddle this Summer with Whoosh Explore with our guided tours and training sessions. 

Join in the fun on our paddling sessions on our lake or take part in a guided tour of the river all sessions are suitable for beginners.

Way2go Adventures is licensed by AALA for water sports and is also an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards (DofE) expeditions in canoe/kayak. We are also able to offer weekly sessions for those who wish to do canoe/kayak for their physical section for DofE.

The Children’s Centre develops, manages, and pioneers a variety of community initiatives and services aimed at enabling children, young people and families to realise their full potential. Urban Pursuit is a not-for-profit alternative education provider serving schools and academies across Bristol. We help vulnerable young people and those at risk of school exclusion get back on track through adrenaline sports and adventure activities.

Our core mission is re-engaging vulnerable, disaffected young people with education, skills, knowledge and learning. Everything we do supports this important work of helping to turn hopes into reality for those whose lives have been too interesting for education to be a priority. British schoolgirl assaulted on school trip to Iceland

A viral video shows a black girl being assaulted by a white woman in a corridor.

Police in Iceland are investigating after a British schoolgirl was slapped and chased by a tour guide in a hotel corridor.

The schoolgirl, 13, who attended Harris Girls’ Academy, was assaulted whilst on a school trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The incident occurred at Hotel Örk, Hveragerdi on 13th October.
