What are they and what do they involve?

Outdoor activity venues can include a great many things, from relaxation to exhilarating sport! The outdoors includes anything not in a building; you can find activities such as nature trails, adventure playgrounds and parks/gardens outside!

What are the benefits?

Spending time outside is always beneficial, even if it’s just for the fresh air and a change in scenery! Participating in outdoor sport is fantastic for both physical and mental health, and learning about the environment and how to care for it is an important thing for everyone to learn about, regardless of age.

What students is it suitable for?

The outdoors is a great place for all students, so outdoor activity venues will entertain everyone; however, you should make sure that the location is suitable for the group! For example, older teenage students wont have much fun on an adventure playground designed for much smaller children!

Costs?

Outdoor venues will vary greatly in price, as some will be in completely free public areas while some need to charge entry fees; make sure to research this before you set off as you don’t want to surprised!

Safety Implications?

Younger children should always be carefully supervised when outdoors, especially in public areas!

Tollymore National Outdoor Centre offers a range of one day and weekend courses in rock climbing skills, learning to lead and multi pitch climbing, Canadian canoeing, kayaking and sea kayaking, mountain biking, orienteering and coasteering.

Hill Head Sailing Club was founded in 1930 by Colonel J. S. Alston.
The club is based at Titchfield Haven which was originally the mouth of the Meon river but was blocked off to form the present tidal harbour at the Western end of Hill Head.

Established in 1980 Britain’s most experienced summer holiday operator for children and teenagers aged 3-17 years. With a host of exciting and adventurous activities to choose from.

Welcome to Tower Wood Outdoor Education Centre which is set in 12 magnificent acres of lawns and woodland, extending from the beautiful Edwardian house down to the eastern shore of Windermere. The site looks across the Lake to the high fells of the Lake District and has an enviable and easily accessible position.

Close to the shore of Lake Windermere in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Great Tower Scout Activity Centre is an ideal base for exploring this famous area. Set in 250 acres, the centre offers both sizeable woodland to explore as well as natural rocky crags for climbing.

Barnstondale is a truly inclusive adventure and activity centre. With outdoor pursuits, team building, sports and excitement to be had, you can create your own adventure at Barnstondale.

Nestled on the beach in an old smuggler’s cove, Boggle Hole is the perfect location for a school trip. Our programmes here will explore rock pools, look for dinosaur remains and learn about the smugglers who once called this area home. You may even get a chance to spot the ever-elusive Boggle from which this fantastic property gets its name…
