Landscape: A large central desert plain, with northern mountains and a long southern coast where the main cities are all located. 

Climate/Seasons: Hot and hazy for most of the year, peaking from May - August and least from November - March. 

When to Go: While the best time to visit is generally from November - March when temperatures are pleasant, there is a rainy season that occurs in the south of Oman from June - August which is actually very popular - many people travel to the region to experience it and enjoy the different weather and local lush greenery during the period.

How to Get There: There is a good international airport in the capital city Muscat - you should be able to fly there direct from London.

Culture: Quite a diverse culture thanks to its history of expansion out into the ocean, with many similarities to neighbouring Arab countries.

Watch Out For: Take care in public spaces, especially ones with large crowds. You don't need to get a visa in advance for travelling into Oman, but upon arrival you need to acquire visas for your party.
