Rediscovered in 1996, Bagenal's Castle survived enveloped in the premises of the former McCann's Bakery on Abbey Way. The rediscovery has been an exciting opportunity for Newry and Mourne to preserve and restore one of the most important aspects of local heritage.

The study of Politics can cover many aspects of personal and social life. The enhancement as a subject will come not only from direct experience of politics at work – through political party meetings, local councils, Parliament and the European Parliament – but also though meeting trade union members and employers on their own ground in factories and other businesses.
Each Parliament or Assembly in the UK can be visited, with all of them having excellent schools visits programmes, while local MPs often will visit schools in order to engage in debates, especially with Sixth Form students.
Visiting government institutions will be high on Politics teachers’ agendas. These can be enhanced by visits to national record offices, like the National Archives at Kew or the National Archives of Scotland.

The Andrew Jackson Cottage highlights Carrickfergus' strong American and Ulster-Scots connections as well as telling the story of Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the USA, whose parents emigrated to America from Carrickfergus in 1765. Located less than a mile from the town centre off the Larne Road, this single storey building has been restored to its original state.

British schoolgirl assaulted on school trip to Iceland
A viral video shows a black girl being assaulted by a white woman in a corridor.
Police in Iceland are investigating after a British schoolgirl was slapped and chased by a tour guide in a hotel corridor.
The schoolgirl, 13, who attended Harris Girls’ Academy, was assaulted whilst on a school trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The incident occurred at Hotel Örk, Hveragerdi on 13th October.
