What are they and what do they involve?
A farm is a venue devoted towards the cultivation of livestock or crops and can come in many shapes and sizes, ranging from small, dedicated establishments to huge farms that make many different products. Activities such as animal encounters, outdoor experiences and many more can be found on farms, and they’re fascinating places to visit to learn about how organic food is made.
What are the benefits?
Learning about farms and what goes on there can encourage students to be curious about the potential uses of everything around them and better their understanding of where food comes from (whether it is of plant or animal origin).
What students is it suitable for?
Some older students may find the novelty of visiting a farm has worn off as it can be quite common to have visited many farms in childhood, but in general it should be suitable for everybody!

Admissions to farms are usually either reasonably cheap or free, but make sure to check beforehand!
Safety Implications?
Working farm machinery and/or animals can have their hazards, so make sure groups (especially young students) are carefully supervised.

Following a £530,000 redevelopment, the Brooks Farm Outdoor Learning Centre re-opened to the public on the 12 August 2014.
A working 2.2 acre city farm in the heart of London with open animal yard, bee room, cafe, working blacksmith's forge and classrooms.

A viral video shows a black girl being assaulted by a white woman in a corridor.
Police in Iceland are investigating after a British schoolgirl was slapped and chased by a tour guide in a hotel corridor.
The schoolgirl, 13, who attended Harris Girls’ Academy, was assaulted whilst on a school trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The incident occurred at Hotel Örk, Hveragerdi on 13th October.
