Primary School Students Club Together to Modify Minibus for Disabled Classmate

Year 1 students at Barrow Island Primary School in Barrow-In-Furness, are raising funds to adapt their school’s minibus so that their classmate, Bobby Shaw can join them on field trips.  Bobby has cerebral palsy which means he has to use a wheelchair.                                                   

The modification will cost approximately £4,000 and the entire school has thrown themselves into fund raising, including cake sales and raffles and has so far raised £2,200.

Less than two weeks before her son was due to go on a school trip, north Herefordshire mother Rachel Robbins was told that he wasn't allowed to travel.

Rachel Robbins' son, a Year 8 student at Earl Mortimer College in Leominster has autism and in spite of securing a place on the trip to Normandy last July, he was told that they didn't have the staff to look after him on the trip.

Bus Carrying Year Students on School Trip Bursts Into Flames

Schoolchildren from Milton Road Primary School, in Cambridge were on their way to Lackford Lakes in Suffolk, when the trip leader noticed smoke coming from the rear of the coach.

The double decker bus with more than 53 students and 14 adults on board, pulled over on the A1101, near Bury St Edmunds and children and staff were safely evacuated and checked by ambulance staff. Another coach was sent to take the children back to school.

School trips may be axed by school in financial crisis

Paddock Wood Primary School in Tonbridge, Kent is considering axing school trips to save money.

A letter sent to parents and teachers from governors, warns that trips are one of the areas under threat for pupils at the school, as part of forthcoming budget cuts.

The letter went on to say that the “financial picture is bleak”

It is not just trips that are under threat: investment in ICT, outdoor education, grounds and building maintenance, minibuses and staff development could be slashed as part of “drastic measures” which may have to be taken.

Missing “Vulnerable” Student Found Safe and Well After Frantic School Trip Search

Damian De Oliveira, 13, was on a school trip to Moors Valley Country Park near Ashley Heath, Dorset, when he disappeared at around 3.30pm on June 11th.                                

An alarm was raised when Damian, wearing orange ear defenders, a blue waterproof jacket, dark jogging bottoms and light blue lace up shoes with white soles had become separated from the rest of the group.

Officers searched the 1,000-acre wooded park and enlisted the help of countryside wardens as well as a police helicopter.

British schoolgirl assaulted on school trip to Iceland

A viral video shows a black girl being assaulted by a white woman in a corridor.

Police in Iceland are investigating after a British schoolgirl was slapped and chased by a tour guide in a hotel corridor.

The schoolgirl, 13, who attended Harris Girls’ Academy, was assaulted whilst on a school trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The incident occurred at Hotel Örk, Hveragerdi on 13th October.
