Isle of Man
The Isle of Man is a unique part of Britain. You can visit heritage sites that will give you a real insight into how island life used to be: including medieval castles, forts and ancient ruins. With forty percent of the island's land being unpopulated or uncultivated there are many beautiful sites to behold there are numerous glens, a national park and a world-renowned wildlife spot. The annual TT races see the island populated by motorbike enthusiasts, while the Manx Parliament (Tynwald) still governs the island, technically separately from the Houses of Parliament, in an early example of devolution. It is over 1,000 years old, and is thus the oldest parliament in the world with an unbroken existence.
