North East

The North East of England is famous for its dramatic landscapes and is home to many National Parks. The region offers something for children of all ages through its history, archaeology and geography. In the North East you are never far from the influence of the Romans, particularly when it comes to the seemingly endless stretches of Hadrian's Wall which kept the Scots out! Then there are incredible castles such as Alnwick or Bamburgh or Dunstanburgh.

The influence of the Industrial Revolution is still evident on the landscape, along with museums celebrating the area's industrial history, while sport and culture are never far away. Its coastline is rugged, beautiful and worth exploring, especially the beautiful island of Lindisfarne and industries such as mining, shipbuilding and chemical production can be examined. There are also a wide range of incredible buildings, both young and old such as the Sage Arena in Gateshead and Durham Cathedral.
