Perth

Perth is situated on the east side of Scotland. It is an area of deep historical interest as many Scottish Kings were crowned on the Stone of destiny at Scone Palace. There are many fun-filled outdoor activities for students in the area including wildlife parks, indoor play centres and field centres, and especially concentrating on watersports.

You can learn about animals at the Highland Wildlife Park, the history of Scotland's clans at the grandest Glen, Glencoe or Scotland's history of fighting the English at Killiecrankie. An often-missed gem is the village of  Dunkeld, frozen in time and preserved by the National Trust for Scotland.

Twelve centuries ago, West Lochaber was a buffer zone between native Picts, Norsemen and Scots. Briefly part of the Norse Kingdom of Man, it then became the eastern boundary of the powerful Lordship of the Isles.

Highland Folk Museum

Britain's first open-air museum

At the Highland Folk Museum we give our visitors a flavour of how Highland people lived and worked from the 1700s up until the 1960s! We do this by displaying over 30 historical buildings and furnishing them appropriate to their time period. Some have been built from scratch on site and some have been moved here from other locations.

Grantown Museum and Heritage Centre

The exhibition tells the story of the town’s development using audiovisual and traditional displays. The Resource Centre provides internet access and family history research facilities for local people and visitors.

Glenfinnan Station Museum

Glenfinnan Station Museum is a restored West Highland Line railway station on the ‘Iron Road’ to the Isles from Fort William to Mallaig.

Glencoe and North Lorn Folk Museum

The Glencoe Folk Museum was co-founded by Miss Barbara Fairweather MBE and Mrs Rae Grant in the 1960s, and for both ladies it was a life's work. In 1971 the museum was gifted  the two cottages, which create the main building, by the late Hugh Grant.

Clan Macpherson Museum

Discover the romance, loyalty and valour of one of the last of the Jacobites: Cluny of the '45 who was hunted for 9 years after Culloden. He hid in caves and he held the horse for the officer who was searching for him!

Clan Cameron Museum

The museum has displays relating to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the ’45 Rising, a portrayal of the history of the clan and artefacts relating to the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders. It also holds photographs and items from the time that the Commandos trained at Achnacarry during the Second World War.

Pitlochry & Moulin Heritage Centre

Local artefacts and photoraphs of Moulin and surrounding area

Moulin Kirk is situated in the centre of the conservation village of Moulin, near Pitlochry, Perthshire.

The present Kirk was rebuilt in 1875 after a devastating fire.

Its main features were an aisle which approached the Pulpit and Communion table from both sides, plus a superb area of galleried pews accessed from staircases by each of the two side entrances.

Fergusson Gallery

The Fergusson Gallery celebrates the life and work of the great pioneers of modern art and dance, John Duncan Fergusson and Margaret Morris.

Dunkeld Cathedral Chapter House Museum

The museum, run on a voluntary basis by Friends of the Cathedral, incorporates a small visual exhibition and a separate History Centre Reading Room. A church and social history collection contains church, community and family memorabilia and records including The Scottish Horse regimental records. An audio guided tour of the museum and cathedral precincts is available.

Drummond Castle

Sir Malcolm Drummond fought by Robert the Bruce’s side at Bannockburn in 1314 and was granted lands in Strathearn.

Black Watch - The Museum of The Black Watch

Located in the city of Perth, The Black Watch Castle & Museum is one of the top visitor attractions in Perthshire and includes the Copper Beech Cafe, the Museum Shop and the Regimental Museum. 

Scotland's Black Watch is an elite military regiment whose history stretches back almost three centuries.

Atholl Country Life Museum

Here in the Atholl Country Life Museum, once the village school, you are able to capture that life of the past and learn about the great characters of the area, their skills and achievements, not only in the community but far beyond.

Alyth Museum

Abernethy Museum

The Museum of Abernethy was opened in May 2000. The building, which stands within the lands of the old Culdees monastery, dates from the 18th century. Originally consisting of a byre, stable and cattle rede, it was renovated during the 1990s to house the Museum.

British schoolgirl assaulted on school trip to Iceland

A viral video shows a black girl being assaulted by a white woman in a corridor.

Police in Iceland are investigating after a British schoolgirl was slapped and chased by a tour guide in a hotel corridor.

The schoolgirl, 13, who attended Harris Girls’ Academy, was assaulted whilst on a school trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The incident occurred at Hotel Örk, Hveragerdi on 13th October.
