Yorkshire

Yorkshire proudly celebrates its culture and heritage like no other area of the UK. There are countless museums where you can learn about everything from whippets to curries. The National Media Museum is to be found in Bradford, while Sheffield's Industrial Museum tells the story of steel and cutlery. York is home to the world-famous Jorvik museum, which offers the sights, sounds and smells of its Viking heritage to the visitor, and to York Minster with its Rose window, while you can learn about historic weapons and armour in Leeds and enjoy a little of how the other half live by taking a trip to Betty's tea room in Harrogate.

The Yorkshire landscape is beauty personified. Enjoy the Peak District in the south, the Moors in the north, the cliffs and beaches around Scarborough and Whitby (Dracula country, of course! see picture) and the industrial majesty of Airedale and its canals. Culture can be enjoyed at Wakefield's Sculpture Park and at one of the region's many theatres. The region's ethnic diversity is celebrated too, while sport is everywhere, from major football teams to the home of Yorkshire cricket at Headingley to having been the venue for the 'depart' of the Tour de France in 2014.
