The heart of Scotland offers a diverse range of site from the rocky crags and winding river of Stirling to the giant Falkirk Wheel. The area also boasts historically artifacts including the remains of The Antonine Wall at Kinneil Museum that dates back to the 2nd century.  

Students interested in history or design can marvel at the splendour of the architecture of Stirling Castle and Alloa Tower, while historians will also be interested in the deeds of Scottish army in defeating the English at Bannockburn at the Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre.

Scientists and those wishing to study animals can visit Blair Drummond Safari Park and adventure seekers or anyone wanting a more physical activity can take on a Munro at the Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve.

Art Collection, University of Stirling

The majority of works are in the Pathfoot Building with sculpture on display all around the campus.

Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum

Nestling beneath Stirling Castle, in the King’s Park, the ancient hunting grounds of the Stuart monarchs, is the Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum.

Kinneil Museum

Kinneil Museum is located in the 17th century stable block of Kinneil House and acts as an interpretative centre for Kinneil Estate.

The exhibition 2,000 Years of History tells the story of the park from Roman times to the present day.

Antoninus Pius, St Serf, Mary, Queen of Scots and James Watt are among the many historical characters associated with the estate.

The Trust has a comprehensive range of photographs and artefacts from Grangemouth’s past. There is a 12 × 8 ft model of Grangemouth Airport with facts and books of World War II. Slide shows are arranged by the Trust historian for local organisations.

Dunblane Museum

A charming, small museum with a warm welcome

A charming, small museum with a warm welcome. Opened in 1943 and run entirely by volunteers, the original museum was known as the Cathedral Museum and was housed in the Deans House (built in 1624). Now extending into 8 small rooms, the museum has an eclectic mix of artefacts relating to the history of Dunblane and its Cathedral.

Clackmannanshire Council Museum & Heritage Service

A small showcase for the treasures of Clackmannanshire

The collection is stored in the former Liberal Club, Mar Street, Alloa, a fine building of 1904.

Callendar House

Callendar House dates from the 14th century. It is set in the nationally-important historic designed landscape of Callendar Park, which also contains a section of the Antonine Wall World Heritage Site.

Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Museum

The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Museum is located in the King’s Old Building of Stirling Castle. 

Alloa Tower

Scotland's largest & oldest keep. There's a dungeon alongside artwork by Raeburn & Van Dyck. School visits are available by arrangement, and focus on Mary, Queen of Scots and the 1st Earl of Mar. There is an education/teachers and restricted access pack available. The approximate length of a school visit is 2 hours.

Steeple

The historic Steeple in Falkirk's High Street is a performing arts venue and acts as the central box office for all our events, performances and screenings.

You can book tickets for FTH, The Hippodrome or workshops and events at Callendar House, either in person or by telephone.

Menstrie Castle

This 400-year-old castle in the former mill town of Menstrie at the foot of the Ochil Hills is part of the Clackmannanshire Tower Trail.

The ground floor houses a fascinating slice of Scottish-Canadian history in a museum dedicated to the founding of Nova Scotia by Sir William Alexander, who was born here in 1577.

Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre

Witness two opposing kings - Robert the Bruce and Edward II - whose tactics in 1314 changed the path of Scotland's history, forever.

Moirlanich Longhouse

This beautifully conserved dwelling and byre in Glen Lochay, near Killin, offers a unique insight into rural life in 19th-century and early 20th century Scotland.

There are 5 jointed and pegged cruck couples, two of which can be viewed easily in the byre end of the house.
