Exeter is an historic city with over 2,000 years of history. Its proximity to the Jurassic coast and the rolling countryside make it a beautiful location. The local Cathedral is a magnificent example of gothic architecture complete with extensive underground passages. For the more adventurous types you can take to the sea with one of the many watersports clubs.
From Exeter you are only a short distance away from some of the most beautiful and remote moorlands in the country - Dartmoor and Exmoor. There are plenty of activities to undertake there and many school groups come from across the country to undertake their Duke of Edinburgh award activities on the moorlands. Make sure you are all fully prepared, though, as the weather can change at any time up on the moors. Visit Dunsland, Combe Wood or Hemyock Castle or Castle Drogo.

The displays in Dawlish Museum are changed regularly and aim to represent life past and present in the town, for example the acclaimed display of the February storms which severely damaged the railway.

The Club is situated in Exmouth, close to the marina/harbour at the mouth of the beautiful Exe estuary and is the largest sailing club on the Exe. The Club encourages all forms of sailing. It is possible to sail from the club at all states of the tide, although skill is required to cope with fast flowing tides which occur at certain times in the mouth of the estuary.

Begun soon after the Norman Conquest as a motte and bailey castle with a stone keep, it was converted into a sumptuous residence in the 14th century by Hugh Courtenay, Earl of Devon, much of whose work survives.
