Exeter is an historic city with over 2,000 years of history. Its proximity to the Jurassic coast and the rolling countryside make it a beautiful location. The local Cathedral is a magnificent example of gothic architecture complete with extensive underground passages. For the more adventurous types you can take to the sea with one of the many watersports clubs. 

From Exeter you are only a short distance away from some of the most beautiful and remote moorlands in the country - Dartmoor and Exmoor. There are plenty of activities to undertake there and many school groups come from across the country to undertake their Duke of Edinburgh award activities on the moorlands. Make sure you are all fully prepared, though, as the weather can change at any time up on the moors. Visit Dunsland, Combe Wood or Hemyock Castle or Castle Drogo.

Dumpdon Hill Fort

Lundy

Undisturbed by cars, the island encompasses a small village with an inn and Victorian church, and the 13th-century Marisco Castle.

There's also a disused lighthouse to discover. Called the Old Light, it offers superb views over the north part of the island.
