Life in Plymouth - dubbed Britain's Ocean City - revolves around the water with various watersport clubs there is plenty of fun to be had. There is a local theatre, aquarium and lighthouse for you to visit. There are countless outdoor activities to undertake either up on Dartmoor doing the Duke of Edinburgh award or on the coast or out at sea. Visit the historic site on the Hoe where Sir Francis Drake spied the Armada whilst playing bowls, learn about Victorian Incarceration at the Dartmoor Prison museum or spend some time studying the animals at Dartmoor Zoo, star of the book and feature film We Bought A Zoo.

You can also visit the beautiful village of  Boscastle and its Museum of Witchcraft, splendour at King Arthur's mystical clifftop Tintagel Castle, or wonder at the space age bubbles of the Eden Project, whilst learning more about its environmental importance. You can even ride a zip wire over the site these days!

Theatre Royal

Welcome to the finest drama, the brightest West End musicals, the cream of the comedy circuit, award winning ballet and dance, family friendly shows, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, Opera North and Rambert Dance – and (we think) the best Pantomime in the country!

Elizabethan House

On Plymouth's historic Barbican, you'll find an ancient doorway that takes you back in time to Drake's Plymouth.

Down panelled hallways and up spiral stairs, you'll find yourself in the furnished home of an Elizabethan merchant or sea captain.

Mind your head on the low ceilings and feel the creaking oak of the sloping floors as you explore the Elizabethan House.

Lantic Bay and Lansallos

Stretch your legs in a living Cornish landscape

We care for some beautiful stretches of land between Lantic Bay and Lansallos in south east Cornwall.

Pencarrow Head is a great starting point, with views of the unspoilt sands of Lantic Bay to the west and the many coves of Lantivet Bay to the east.

Tavistock Museum

Tavistock Museum is a town museum which has permanent exhibitions relating to its monastic, market, and mining past. It is also a community museum and each year has new exhibitions relating to different community interests and organisations.

St Breock Downs Monolith

Originally 5 metres (16 feet) high and weighing some 16.75 tonnes, this is Cornwall's largest and heaviest prehistoric monolith. 

This massive stone stands near the summit of the St Breock Downs, offering beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and across to the sea.

Cotehele Mill

Working watermill and workshops

This working mill next to the Morden Stream is an atmospheric reminder of the recent past when corn was ground here for the local community. It’s believed that mills have worked in the Tamar valley since medieval times and this watermill dates back to the 19th century. The buildings surrounding the mill were used as stables, cowsheds, a hayloft and a ‘cherry house’ for storing cherries.

Restormel Castle

The great 13th century circular shell-keep of Restormel still encloses the principal rooms of the castle in remarkably good condition. It stands on an earlier Norman mound surrounded by a deep dry ditch, atop a high spur beside the River Fowey. Twice visited by the Black Prince, it finally saw action during the Civil War in 1644. It commands fantastic views and is a favourite picnic spot.
