You can go on tours of local pottery factories or even take part yourself at one of the many craft centres. You can visit the Staffordshire Hoard at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, watch Premier League football at Stoke City FC, walk along or sail down a canal, or take a trip on a steam railway on the Churnet Valley Railway. There is plenty to do at Trentham Gardens and its Monkey Forest, at the Wedgwood Visitor Centre and with Alton Towers theme park nearby you will never go short of thrills.
