Recognised as the world capital of ceramics Stoke-on-Trent has a long history of making pottery. You can go on tours of local pottery factories or even take part yourself at one of the many craft centres. You can visit the Staffordshire Hoard at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, watch Premier League football at Stoke City FC, walk along or sail down a canal, or take a trip on a steam railway on the Churnet Valley Railway. There is plenty to do at Trentham Gardens and its Monkey Forest, at the Wedgwood Visitor Centre and with Alton Towers theme park nearby you will never go short of thrills.

Alton Castle is a Catholic Education Centre in rural Staffordshire, just up the road from Alton Towers.
The impressive remains of an abbey of Cistercian 'white monks', including towering fragments of its 13th century church, infirmary and 14th century abbot's lodging.
Bertram de Verdun, Lord of Alton, an important local nobleman at the time, founded a Cistercian monastery in 1176 for the salvation of the souls of his family.
Tenpin Stoke is a bowling centre located in Greyfriars Place. We have 20 modern fully computerised lanes, American Pool tables, Amusement Arcades all catered towards families and kids. There is also the Beach Road Cafe Bar for some delicious meal and snack options.
They have been providing Outdoor Education for almost 60 years to schools from Staffordshire and beyond, although it was another 20 years before it began to take the shape that you may recognise today.
Staffordshire Wildlife Trust’s HQ, the Wolseley Centre, is one of the county’s hidden gems and it's completely free to visit.
