Lancaster is a compact city bursting with attractions. Lancaster City Museum offers an insight into local history including a tombstone dating back 100AD. The area is close to the River Lune where you can take tours or learn about the maritime history at the local museum. There are also many green spaces and farms to keep you entertained.
The area also includes the southern reaches of the Lake District, featuring many beautiful valleys which inspired the poet Wordsworth and houses, including the home of children's author Beatrix Potter.

Wray Castle came to us without its contents so you will not see a 'typical' National Trust house full of paintings, furniture and antiques with an accompanying owner-family history through the ages.
