London Central East

London Central East

Central East London is home to the City of London, the world epicentre of finance. From the Bank of England to the Stock Exchange, the Mansion House and Lloyds Building, the architecture and power of the institutions is impressive, but also both historic and contemporary. Sir Christopher Wren's St Paul's Cathedral dominates the skyline alongside the more modern Gherkin and the Walkie-Talkie. There are also the many, more Bohemian, delights in the alternative area of Shoreditch. Culture can be found at the Barbican, where you can listen to classical music, enjoy the resident Royal Shakespeare Company and always find new exhibitions. The area will offer school trip planners many opportunities across a number of subject areas from the Ragged School set up by Barnardo's to the world famous Tower of London, where the opulent Crown Jewels can be viewed.
