Derby is famous for helping to set the industrial revolution in to motion with the first powered silk mill and first powered cotton spinning mill in the world. Today it still continues championing its rich industrial heritage with the Rolls Royce museum, Royal Crown Derby and Railway Engineering factories. It is also home to the Royal School for the Deaf.

Hob Hurst's House

A square prehistoric burial mound with an earthwork ditch and outer bank. It was named after a local goblin.

This site lies high on the gritstone moorlands of Harland Edge, above Beeley in the Peak District, reached from the nearest road by a stiff uphill walk of about 2km (1.25 miles).

Dukes Barn

An Outdoor Activity Centre, based in Beeley, in the heart of the Peak District National Park and the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, providing group accommodation and outdoor adventure activities for young people of all abilities.

Winster Market House

Winster Market House was the first property to be acquired by the National Trust in the Peak District in 1906 for £50.

It's a lovely brick built listed building and on the first floor is an unmanned information room with interpretation panels detailing the history of the village and a scale model of Winster.

Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill Barrow

The most important prehistoric site of the East Midlands, Arbor Low is a Neolithic henge monument atmospherically set amid high moorland.

Within an earthen bank and ditch, a circle of some 50 white limestone slabs, all now fallen, surrounds a central stone ‘cove’ – a feature found only in major sacred sites. Nearby is enigmatic Gib Hill, a large burial mound.

British schoolgirl assaulted on school trip to Iceland

A viral video shows a black girl being assaulted by a white woman in a corridor.

Police in Iceland are investigating after a British schoolgirl was slapped and chased by a tour guide in a hotel corridor.

The schoolgirl, 13, who attended Harris Girls’ Academy, was assaulted whilst on a school trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The incident occurred at Hotel Örk, Hveragerdi on 13th October.
