The Gordon Craig theatre opened in 1975 and is the cultural hub of Stevenage. The events are targeted to all key stage groups and many of the curriculum subject, particularly during the annual Stevenage Festival of the Arts. Nearby Knebworth House is fascinating to visit in its own right but also puts on great open days and massive rock concerts featuring headline bands. There are also local festivals for food, dance, walking and even elebrating the chilli pepper. Stevenage also offers a lot of parks and woodland perfect for a nature trail. The town has produced sportsmen such as golfer Ian Poulter, footballer Jack Wilshere and Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton.
