Landscape: Seychelles is a country made up of over 100 islands, some of which are made of granitic rock while others are coral islands. The granite islands are generally quite rocky with coastal strips quickly rising to central hills, while the coral islands are pretty flat with elevated coral reefs. 

Climate/Seasons: The warm temperature varies little year round, but the coolest (and driest) months are July and August. The wettest period is November - February with peak rainfall in January, but you can find rain in most months of the year. 

When to Go: June - August is the best time to go weather wise but the Seychelles can be pleasant all year round!

How to Get There: Flying is by far the best and quickest way to get to the Seychelles from the UK, but you will probably need to take some connecting flights to get there.

Natural Wonders/Wildlife: Saint Anne Marine National Park

History: Under French control for a period starting in the late 19th century, gaining independence in 1976 and becoming a Commonwealth republic.

Culture: The Seychelles had no indigenous population, so the culture is a mix of influences from various settlers/immigrants such as the Africans, the French and the Indians.

Watch Out For: Strong currents can be found in the ocean around the Seychelles so swimming should be treated with caution, and you should take reasonable measures to be safe from crime - no valuables on display etc.
